For me the massive dwarfs and sun
Through nebulae, to life were sung
Then globe and trees and beasts were spun
For me
For me was born a Boy among
The dungy keep; the sheep with young
The cave up-lit by stars He’d hung
For me
For me He cherished parents dear
They cheered Him through His cares and tears
Of meekness strong, a model clear
For me
For me He bore the stinging stare
Of kinsmen mocking, unaware
The fate of prophets did He share
For me
For me that glistening face was kissed
Those hands wrapped tight; His rights dismissed
As accusations false were hissed
For me
For me the spit with razored crown
He wore without a word or sound
As lamb to slaughter was He bound
For me
For me the shout, the fist, the whip
The beam with Simon that He gripped
The trip complete, His clothing stripped
For me
For me the fright’ning spikes sunk deep
The prayers for pardon as He weeped
His mom He gave to love and keep
To me
For me He called, “I thirst!” and died
Then Heaven’s narrow gate untied
He rose and soon the clouds He’ll ride
For me
I’ll trade my sins for Whom He’ll give
His Spirit! to move in and live
To love and laugh and all forgive
Through me
